Coolermaster Jet 7 vs. Thermaltake Volcano 12

Novi Cooler Masterov hladnjak dolazi zapakiran u prozirnu plastičnu kutiju vrlo privlačnog izgleda. Plastika je dosta tvrda, no srećom nije varena nego se cijela kutija otvara preko osigurača na dnu. U kutiji se osim samog hladnjaka nalaze hrpa stvarčica - paketić silikonske termovodljive paste, PCI pločica za potencijometar, pločica za potencijometar za floopy bay, set vijaka, kapica za potecijometar, kratki priručnik za instalaciju te naljepnica za kućište s Cooler Masterovim logotipom. Sve skupa zgodno i korisno.

Ventilator Jeta 7 ima varijabilni broj okretaja pa otuda i potreba za potencijometrom preko kojeg korisnik mijenja brzinu ventilatora. Čini se malo nezgodno, ali zato se u paketu nalaze dva držaća potencijometra tako da ga možete postaviti gdje vam više paše. Prvi, manje glamurozan, je držač koji se fiksira na jedan od PCI otvora na stražnjoj strani računala. Ovo je dosta dobra poziciji ako ne mislite prečesto mijenjati brzinu ventilatora. Drugi držač je puno ljepši i ugrađuje se u 3.5" bay pomoću priloženih vijaka. Uzgred, ovaj držač je napravljen od aluminija što će reći da ide super uz aluminijska kućišta.

Potencijometar se na oba držača fiksira pomoću matice i malene šajbice - vrlo jednostavna i učinkovita metoda. Potencijometar se inače ne može postaviti bilo kako već točno prema oznakama minimalne i maksimalne brzine na držačima. Držači na sebi imaju rupicu, a potecijometar klin. Kad klin sjedne u rupicu (kako erotično...) sve je postavljeno kako treba.

The paket

No, nije sve tako lijepo i krasno. Sjajna kapica čije je mjesto na pokretnom dijelu, na potencijometar se doslovno nabija, i to uz dosta muke. Opće je poznato pravilo - ono što se teško nabija, teško se i izbija. Ovo pravilo vrijedi i za dotičnu kapicu što znači da ćete pri vađenju Jeta 7 iz vašeg računala imati dosta problema koje ćete vjerojatno morati rješavati s kombinirkama ili nečim sličnim.

Sam hladnjak izgleda stvarno fenomenalno. Dio s ventilatorom izrađen je u obliku turbo-mlaznog motora sličnom onom na velikim putničkim avionima. U tom kućištu nalazi se ventilator odnosno turbina nekonvencijalnog dizajna. Turbina ne vuče zrak odozgo, poput običnog ventilatora, već sastrane. Ovim je eleminirana mrtva točka zračnog protoka koja se kod konvencijonalnih ventilatora pojavljuje topčno tamo gdje je najmanje poželjna - iznad jezgre procesora. Turbina se inače vrti na brzini od 1900 do 3500 okretaja po minuti. Nažalost, problem ovakvog dizajna je to što nismo uspjeli dokučiti kako se turbina odnosno unutrašnjost gornjeg dijela čisti od prašine. Izvedivo jest, ali pitanje je uz kakve komplikacije i trošak vremena odnosno živaca. No ovo nije jedini problem dizajna Jeta 7. Vjerojatno ste primjetili da je hladnjak vrlo visok što znači da se ne može monitirati u svako kućište, a posebno ne ono u kojem se napajanje direktno iznad procesora.

Hy, ho Silver! Away!

Na gornjem dijelu hladnjaka postavljene su i dvije ledice. Jedna je crvena, stalno uključena i nalazi se, u odnosu na ulaz zraka, na suprotnoj strani hladnjaka. Druga ledica je bijela i nalazi se na mjestu koje je označeno na slici. Ta se ledica naizmjence uključuje i isključuje što izgleda vrlo efektno i podsjeća na navigacijska svijetla na avionu. Napajanje cijelog sklopa (ledice + ventilator) izvedeno je preko pass-through molex konektora. Naravno, postoji i kontrolni vod za praćenje brzine ventilatora - on se priključuje na standarni header za napajanje ventilatora na hladnjaku procesora. Nema razloga da vas zabrinjava dužina kabela na kojem je potencijometar jer je kabel dovoljno dug i za poprilično velika kućišta.

Pasivni dio hladnjaka je relativno nizak. Napravljen je od bakrene legure i sastoji se od velikog broja paralelno postavljenih listića. Donji dio je "žvaka-free" tj. na njemu nema one užasne smjese koja se teško skida, a trebala bi poslužiti kao termovodljiva pasta. To nam se svidjelo, ali nam se zato nije svidjela završna obrada plohe koja dolazi u interakciju s jezgrom procesora - glatka je, ali ne i dovoljno za hladnjak koji košta otprilike 300 krznenih životinjica. Na kraju dolazimo do kopče kojom se hladnjak fiksira na procesor odnosno Socket. Kopča je jako dobro izrađena - iskorištava svih 6 kukica na Socketu te se na Socket pričvrćuje vrlo lako pomoću malog mehanizma, bolje reći ručkice. Sve u svemu, Jet 7 nam se na prvi pogled jako svidio, ali sad je vrijeme da pogledamo i Volcano 12.
