Corsair 3200XL - povratak 2-2-2-5 postavki?

Detaljne testove da vidimo točno na kojim taktovima 3200XL radi ovisno o postavkama, proveli smo na tri različite matične ploče. Dvije su na bazi Intel čipseta koji su se povijesno pokazali kao iznimno stabilnim na agresivnim postavkama - tu su EPoX 4PDA2+ Rev2 (i865PE) i Chaintech 9CJS Zenith (i875P). Treća ploča koju smo odabrali je za Socket754 - Soyo K8USA. Ovu ploču smo odabrali zato što se radi o ploči koja je na bazi ALi/AMD 8151 čipseta. Ovaj čipset smo odabrali jer se radi ipak o AMD-ovoj tvorevini, dakle o čipsetu koji bi ipak treba biti pouzdaniji od nekih VIA i sličnih rješenja.

Prvo razočarenje koje smo doživjeli jest to što 3200XL memorija na Chaintech Canterwood ploči nije htjela raditi stabilno na 2-2-2-5, već na 2-3-2-5. Razlika između ovih postavki nije velika, no Corsair ipak garantira 2-2-2-5, zar ne? Sveukupno, vidimo da se rezultati jako razlikuju od ploče do ploče. Tako se Corsair 3200XL prvobitno najbolje ponaša na EPoX ploči (što se Intel platformi tiče) ali kada krenemo na više frekvencije ovoj memoriji puno bolje paše Chaintech Canterwood ploča. Tako na 9CJS Zenith ploči vidimo odličan rezultat od 450MHz na 2-3-3-6 postavkama. Ipak, Corsair 3200XL se sveukupno najbolje ponaša na Soyo ploči na kojoj je dostigla takt od 461MHz na 2-3-3-6 i 419MHz na 2-3-2-5. Nažalost, 3200XL memoriju na ovoj ploči nismo mogli isprobati "do kraja" jer K8USA jednostavno niti sa jednom memorijom ne želi postati na FSB-u iznad 232MHz. Razlog za to je vjerovatno nedovoljno visoka voltaža za chipset koju nažalost nije moguće povisiti preko BIOS-a. Treba reći i to da 3200XL memorija nije iskazala neku posebnu ljubav prema visokim vddr voltažama - ukoliko bi vddr stavili iznad 2.8V ne bismo dobili nikakvo poboljšanje već često pogoršanje u maksimalnom taktu na datim postavkama. Sam Corsair inače ne preporučuje da vddr bude iznad 2.9V za ovu memoriju.

Inače, kao što smo rekli, 3200XL memoriju smo isprobali na šest ploča. Vidjeli ste rezultate za tri, a sada je vrijeme za ostale tri na kojima nismo išli toliko u detalje već nas je samo zanimalo na kojim postavkama Corsair 3200XL radi na njima na taktu od 400MHz.

Napomena - Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 i ABIT AV8 ne smatramo zrelim pločama

Kao što vidite, rezultati su loši - 3200XL je jedino solidno radila na Albatron 915G ploči (ali opet lošije nego što garantira proizvođač), dok su rezultati na Socket939 platformama katastrofa. Ovako loši rezultati na S939 pločama ipak ne idu na dušu Corsaira već proizvođača matičnih ploča. Uskoro spremamo članak o ABIT AV8 ploči u kojem ćemo proći sve probleme, bugove, glitcheve i još svašta drugo što smo pronašli kroz vrlo intenzivno druženje sa S939 pločama.
