OCZ PC4000 Gold VX

- Uvod i opis -

Tko se boji visoke voltaže još, tri za groš, tri za groš - jer tu je OCZ PC4000 Gold V(oltage)X(treme) memorija! OCZ PC4000 Gold VX memorija namijenjena je najzagriženijim overclockerima koji svojoj memoriju mogu omogućiti vddr dobrano preko 3V u želji da iz nje izvuku što bolje postavke na što višem taktu. Mi smo ovu memoriju detaljno isprobali i sada je vrijeme da s vama podijelimo naša iskustva.

OCZ PC4000 Gold VX memorija je specifičan proizvod s kojim OCZ cilja samo na mali dio populacije. Obično je visoka cijena glavni razlog zašto neki proizvod može biti zanimljiv samo manjem broju ljudi no kod PC4000 VX je situacija malo kompleksnija. Stvar je u tome što VX memorija zahtijeva iznimno visok vddr da bi pokazala sve što može - radi se o bar 3.3+V. Na tržištu ne postoji mnogo ploča koje daju vddr veći od 3V, a sa voltažama većim od 3.3V situacija je još gora. Za one koji su upoznati sa matičnim pločama situacija je jasna - defakto su na raspolaganju jedino DFI S754 i S939 ploče i to je to. Stanje se donekle može popraviti sa još jedinom proizvodom tvrtke OCZ - DDR Boosterom. DDR Booster se stavlja u jedan od memorijskih slotova na vašoj ploči i omogućava da vddr povećate čak do 3.9V. No, DDR Booster radi samo sa nekim pločama - tu morate biti jako oprezni jer ukoliko DDR Booster stavite na neku od nepodržanih ploča, možete se lako oprostiti od nje. Neke ploče se inače daju modati da daju viši vddr no nema puno korisnika koji su voljni lemiti po svojim platformama. Sve u svemu - OCZ PC4000 Gold VX je niche proizvod i zbog toga za njega ne vrijede neka uobičajena pravila za ocjenjivanje.

Dual-channel OCZ PC4000 Gold VX kit

Da se OCZ odlučio za izradu VX serije ne čudi jer je ova tvrtka od svog prvog dana bila orijentirana na overclockere. I samo ime tvrtke to jasno govori jer je OCZ kratica od (sleng) riječi OverClockerZ. Mi smo isprobali trenutno top-model iz VX serije - PC4000 Gold VX. Ova memorija deklarirana je za takt od 400MHz uz postavke 2-3-3-8 @ 2.6V, te (ono bitnije) za 500MHz 2-2-2 @ 3.3V. Prve PC4000 Gold VX module primili smo odmah nakon CeBIT-a (davno je to bilo), no oni nisu htjeli raditi na 500MHz na CAS2 pa ih je OCZ zamijenio sa novima (a sa novim modulima je situacija također bila zanimljiva, kao što ćete vidjeti kasnije). Sama podrška oko toga je bila bezbolna no i dosta spora - došlo je do neke zbrke u OCZ-u tako da smo na nove module čekali preko 2 tjedna nakon što je OCZ primio stare. Moramo reći da uopće ne možemo zamisliti kako bi zamjena ovavkih modula zbog slabog OC-a funkcionirala kod nas jer se damo kladit da bi se domaće tvrtke držale naljepnice na memoriji na kojoj piše 2-3-3-8 2.6V kao pijane plote a sve ostalo ignorirale. Drugim riječima, bolje zamjenu raditi direktno sa OCZ-om no to pak znači slanje memorije poštom u Veliku Britaniju... Vrlo spetljana situacija za kupce iz ne-EU zemlje poput naše jer znamo kako se ponaša naša carina - bolno po đep (a ni troškovi kvalitetnije poštarine nisu baš mali).

Prava ljepota

Što se samih modula tiče, njihova "tajna" se satoji od više komponenti. Kao prvo tu su Winbond UTT čipovi. Winbond UTT čipovi nisu ništa drugo nego CH5 novije proizvodnje. Iako razlika između UTT i CH5 čipova postoji, ona je minimalna, tj. radi se o razlici koja proizlazi od razlike u samom proizvodnom procesu. Glavne karakteristike su i dalje tu - mogućnost postizanja visoke frekvencije uz agresivne postavke ali uz nužno visoku voltažu. Zbog toga je za PC4000 VX za 500MHz potrebno (bar) 3.3V a OCZ sa svojom garancijom pokriva voltaže sve do 3.5V. Naravno, čipovi nisu jedina stvar koja čini dobar RAM - tu je još PCB. OCZ je bio prvi koji je shvatio potencijal Brainpower PCB-a jer on nudi odličnu toleranciju na visoku toplinu, voltaže te takt. Tako i VX dolazi sa Brainpower PCB-om. Zadnja komponente su vrlo teški heatsinkovi koji su ključni jer se OCZ PC4000 VX na visokim voltažama bolno zagrijava. Ukoliko svoj stroj vrtite 24/7 (kao mi) sa VX-om ćete vidjeti što to znači vruća memorija!
