- Rezultati testa i zaključak -

Prije nego što počnemo sa taktovima moramo reći da smo se orijentirali isključivo na CAS2 - VX memorija je orijentirana prema što agresivnijim postavkama i samim tim nas ništa drugo nije niti zanimalo.

Rezultate smo podijelili po tome da li je za njih bilo potrebno do 3.5V što pokriva garancija te na one koji su postignuti kada se o tome ne vodi briga. S tim da moramo reći da nam ni dan-danas nije jasno kako neki proizvođač može odrediti koliku ste vi voltažu dali svojim komponentama - a s PC hardverom se stvarno bavimo duugooooo. No, vratimo se na rezultate! Zašto smo tako podijelili rezultate mislimo da je prilično jasno - jer OCZ PC4000 Gold VX nije dostigla 500MHz @ 2-2-2 na voltaži za koju tvrdi proizvođač - 3.3V jednostavno nije bilo dovoljno za module koje smo mi dobili na test.

Nemogućnost memorije da radi na 2-2-2 na 3.3V jest veliki minus, tu dvojbe nema. Situacija je još gora ukoliko znamo da je za potpunu stabilnost na 500MHz 2-2-2 potrebno izrazito visokih 3.7V - voltažu koju nikome ne preporućamo, pogotovo ukoliko se uzme u obzir količina zagrijavanja. Ukoliko zaboravimo na voltaže onda je situacija bolja jer PC4000 Gold VX radi na 2-2-2 na 400MHz i tih 2-2-2 drži sve do 470MHz na prihvatljivih 3.3V. Postavke 2-3-2 i 2-3-3 donose još viši takt - npr. 2-3-3 na 500MHz uz 3.4V je objektivno odličan rezultat, pogotovo za S939 platformu. Ipak, teško je smetnuti s uma da bi rezultat tu trebao biti 500MHz na 2-2-2. Kada se onda još prisjetimo da prvi moduli nisu htjeli uopće raditi na 500MHz uz CAS2, čovjek se zamisli. Jednostavno nema sumnje da je yield za PC4000 Gold VX iznimno slab i da ručni odabir čipova očito nije dovoljno detaljan da bi se osigurao kvalitetan quality control.

Lijepo je što VX radi sasvim solidno i na pločama koje mogu dati samo skroman vddr no kupovina VX-a uz takvu platformu je poprilično bacanje novca. Sve u svemu PC4000 Gold VX je odličan izbor za određeni broj overclockera no ni približno onako dobar kako bi se činilo na prvi pogled.

 

Performanse

Odlučili smo dati i jedan grafić na kojem se vidi razlika u performansama na 500MHz kada se koristi 2-2-2 naspram 2.5-4-3. Postavke 2.5-4-3 nismo odabrali slučajno već se radi o postavkama na kojima većina (drugih) memorija može stabilno raditi na S939 platformama.

Kao što vidimo iz brojeva, dobitak je ravno 5%. Realno uzevši to nije razlika vrijedna dodatnih XXX kuna ali sa druge strane ukoliko pogledamo trenutne razlike u performansama bilo procesora ili grafičkih kartica, onda to i nije tako malo. Zaključak koji nekako dolazi sam od sebe jest - tko voli nek' izvoli.

 

Zaključak

I šta reći za kraj? Ne znamo ni sami - s jedne strane je PC4000 VX odlična memorija jer 2-3-3 @ 500MHz @ 3.4V nije nikako skroman rezultat. Sa druge strane taj isti rezultat nije onakav kakav bi trebao biti jer proizvođač garantira 2-2-2 @ 500MHz @ 3.3V. Dodajmo na to da prvi set memorije koji smo dobili nije htio uopće raditi na 500MHz te cijenu i činjenicu da je VX napravljen za svega par matičnih ploča na tržištu i što na kraju imamo nego glavobolju. Jednostavno situacija je takva da mi OCZ PC4000 Gold VX trenutno ne možemo ocijeniti. Naša otkrića ćemo (ponovo) prenjeti OCZ-u i vidjeti što će se desiti. Sve skupa jedan antiklimaks ali tako je to neki put.
