SMPS handbook ili što su to napajanja?

Svatko tko je ikada otvorio bilo koje ATX napajanje zna da je u 90% njih srce i duša TL494, switchmode PWM kontrolni sklop, kojeg rade razni proizvođači, uz push-pull tranzistorsko sklopovlje i regulaciju izlaznih napona. I kako to sve zapravo radi? Počevši od ulaza, ~220V se punovalno ispravlja i zaglađuje s dva visokonaponska elektrolita. Nakon toga takav napon odlazi na NPN tranzistorski spoj (iako ne nužno, postoje izvedbe SMPS-a s MOSFE i IGB tranzistorima), koji je vrlo sličan izlazu B klase pojačala te nakon toga na transformator s više sekundara, obicno jedan za 5V i 3.3V te jedan za 12V, no kod novih napajanja postoji odvojeni 5V i 3.3V te nekoliko 12V linija. Daljnji princip je jednostavan, sto je veći napon na izlazu to je frekvencija ulaznog stupnja veća i samim time se inducira viši napon, uz jednostavnu impulsnu regulaciju na niskonaponskom dijelu odnosno kod bolje izvedenih napajanja pomoću pojačala greške. Negativni se pak naponi dobivaju pomoću ispravljanja induciranog napona na zavojnici. Bitna stvar je ta da apsolutno sva switching napajanja najviše ovise o kvaliteti pasivnih komponenti, napose LC izlaznih stupnjeva. Kvalitetno izvedeni kondenzatori (maleni ESR, kvalitetni dielektrik i slično) te zavojnice danas su rijetka i cijenjena roba, koja često povisuje cijenu kvalitetnijih napajanja.

Nakon suhoparnog i dosadnog tehničarskog objašnjavanja kako otprilike napajanje radi, posvetit ćemo se nekim detaljima koji često mogu biti presudni hoćemo li neko napajanje klasificirati u "kvalitetno" ili nekvalitetno. Tu ćemo također opisati kako rade razno razne zaštite u napajanju te opisati tehnologije kojih "marketinški stručnjaci" i "rivju maheri" imaju puna usta.
