Gigabyte GV-NX86S256H - DX10 za smrtnike

Naša testa GeForce 8600 GTS kartica dolazi nam iz Gigabyteovih pogona. Model GV-NX86S256H ne može se pohvaliti ništa drugačijim taktovima od referentnih (675/1450 MHz za jezgru, 2000 MHz DDR za memoriju), no to kompenzira s pasivnim hlađenjem.

Oprema kartice je kao što vidimo sasvim očekivana - priručnik za uporabu, DVI adapter (samo jedan, ali s obzirom na to da svi danas kupuju LCD monitor, to nije neki problem), HDTV TV-out combo box, CD s driverima te DVD s punom verzijom odličnog RTS-a Supreme Commander.

Svi konektori na kartici, dakle DVI izlazi, TV izlaz te SLI konektor, su zaštićeni plastičnim kapicama koje je potrebno skinuti prije ugradnje kartice u računalo. GPU i memorija su smješteni na, za Gigabyte, klasično plavom PCB-u, a hlađeni su masivnim pasivnim hladnjakom s toplovodnim cijevima kojeg Gigabyte naziva Silent-pipe III. Riječ je o rješenju dizajniranom od strane Gigabytea koje je, kako nam i samo ime kaže, kroz povijest doživjelo više revizija, a ovdje je riječ o trećoj reviziji. Ipak, valja spomenuti da hladnjak ne dolazi u kontakt s memorijskim čipovima tako da odvodi toplinu isključivo s G84 GPU-a.

Silent-pipe III hladnjak je načinjen od dvoja dijela koji su povezani toplovodnim cijevima. Veći dio hladnjaka je načinjen od aluminija dok su toplovodne cijevi i dio koji dolazi u kontakt s GPU-om načinjeni od bakra. Drugi dio hladnjaka koji nije narinut na GPU jednim dijelom izlazi iz kroz stražnju pločicu na kojoj su smješteni konektori. Na ovom se dijelu nalaze i tanki pločasti finovi koji pomažu odvođenju temperature izvan kućišta. Zbog činjenice da se radi o pasivnom rješenju, hladnjak zauzima dva utora, a zbog delikatnih finova je ugraditi karticu u računalo. Naime, finovi imaju tendenciju zapinjanja za gornji rub proreza kraj konektora na kućištu, a kako su vrlo tanki, lako ih je sviti što se i nama dogodilo.
