Umjesto da mjerimo performanse overclockane memorije preko sintetičkih testova, odlučili smo radije provjeriti kako se performanse mijenjaju paralelno s modificiranjem latencija. Također nas je zanimalo kolike ćemo performanse dobiti ako memorija radi na maksimalnom taktu specifiranom od strane proizvođača, dakle 1066 MHz, uz automatske latencije CAS 5-5-5-15 2T definirane preko EPP postavki.

Za početak pogledajmo što nam o performansama govori Everestov applet za testiranje performansi memorijskog podsustava računala. Ovdje dakako govorimo o sintetičkim performansama koje se mogu, ali i ne moraju preslikati u dobitke u realnim aplikacijama. Korištenje niskih latencija, CAS 4 u kombinaciji s Command Rate 1T, rezultira blagim porastom performansi pri čitanju iz memorije te internom kopiranju. Također vidimo osjetan pad vremena koje je potrebno za pristup podacima. Maksimalnim "zatezanjem" latencija na CAS 4-4-3-3-3 1T dobijamo jako malo na performansama, barem kad je riječ o Core 2 procesorima, dok su dobici u odnosu na standarne JEDEC-ove specifikacije CAS 5-5-5-15 2T zaista minimalni. Sasvim je druga stvar kada memoriji povisimo takt na 1066 MHz. Zbog većeg takta, a time i veće propusnosti, performanse su izuzetno dobre u svim segmentima testa, pa čak i ako je riječ o vremenu pristupa. Naime, stara je stvar da DDR2 za efikasan rad odnosno nisko vrijeme pristupa treba što viši takt.

Vrlo sličan odnos snaga vidimo i u popularnom PCMarku. Najagresivnije latencije ne rezultiraju porastom performansi u odnosu na normalniji CAS 4-4-4-12-16 1T. Razlika između CAS 4 na 1T i CAS 5 na 2T je također dosta malena. Tek s porastom takta na 1066 MHz vidimo jasne beneficije od igranja s postavkama memorije.

Na kraju smo pogledali kakve dobitke na performansama možemo dobiti u igrama. Dakako, nismo nabili visoku rezoluciju i AA i AF postavke budući da bi u tom slučaju usko grlo sistema postala grafička kartica, a ne procesor i memorija. Agresivne latencije daju nam bolje performanse samo u Facryu i F.E.A.R.-u, dok je Company of Heroes na njih neosjetljiv. S druge strane, povećavanje takta memorije na 1066 MHz vidimo sasvim drugačiju situaciju - rast performansi je mnogo izraženiji, posebice u F.E.A.R.-u i Facryu.
