PEAK Radeon HD3870 512MB & HD3850 512MB - jeftinije alternative

- Uvod, PEAK HD3870 512MB i PEAK HD3850 512MB -
Uvod

Iz PEAK Hardwarea smo na test dobili njihove grafičke kartice koje pogone AMD/ATi-evi RV670 čipovi. Modeli Radeon HD3870 i HD3850 oba imaju po 512MB memorije sa razlikom što je na jačem modelu GDDR4 a na slabijem GDDR3. Osim činjenice da imaju različitu memoriju obje kartice izgledaju identično. Crveni PCB je isti, hlađenje je gotovo isto kao i maska koja zauzima 2 PCI slota. Oba modela su cjenovno nešto niže pozicionirana nego konkurencija pa će biti zanimljivo vidjeti kakve su im performanse odnosno kvaliteta izrade.

PEAKHARDWARE je relativno mlada kompanija, osnovana 2003. godine na Tajvanu. Osnivač kompanije je VIP Computers grupa, jedan od najjačih europskih distributera računalne opreme. PEAK je brand u vlasništvu PEAKHARDWARE-a, a pod tim brandom se proizvode VGA, Flash memorije, mrežna oprema i razni drugi proizvodi.

 

PEAK HD3870 512MB

Pakiranje kartice je vrlo jednostavno. Kartica je smještena u plavo obojanu kartonsku kutiju manjih dimenzija, na kojoj se nalaze opći podaci o modelu i tehnologijama koje podržava. Kompletno pakiranje je daleko od ekskluzivnih Sapphireovih, Asusovih, Zotacovih kutija, te je vidljivo kako se pazilo na cijenu - što nije loše.

Kartica bazirana na RV670 čipu je napravljena na crvenom PCB-u, ima hladnjak sličan Zalmanovom VF700 koji svojom visinom zauzima dva PCI slota. Iz tog razloga je i maska napravljena tako da zauzima dva PCI slota. Još jedan vid uštede vidljiv je i na kondenzatorima koji su klasični Sanyovi elektrolitski, a ne "solid state" kao na karticama renomiranijih proizvođača. Kartica ima dva DVI-I izlata i jedan S-Video.

O RV670 čipu je sve već napisano i rečeno, no ponoviti ćemo kako je napravljen je u 55nm proizvodnom procesu, ima 666 milijuna tranzistora, površinu od 190mm2, te 320 shadera i 16 ROP jedinica. Na ovoj kartici kuca na 775MHz što je i defaultni takt 3870 kartica. Ugrađeno je 512MB GDDR4 Samsungove (K4U52324QE-BC09) memorije koja radi na 1125MHz (2250MHz efektovno) i komunicira preko 256-bitne sabirnice. Teoretska propusnost je 72GB/s. Hladnjak je sa donje strane kartice pričvršćen dosta visokim vijcima na oprugama. Malo nespretno rješenje jer vijci ponekad znaju zasmetati, primjerice prilikom slaganja CrossFireX polja.

Hladnjak kartice je napravljen od kombinacije aluminija i bakra a podsjeća na Zalmanov VF700. Kvaliteta izvedbe je solidna, a ventilator je relativno tih. S obzirom na dobru izvedbu, nadali smo se i dobrom overclockingu. Mana ovakvih rješenja je ta što memorijski čipovi nisu ni na koji način hlađeni, pa bi i OC mogao biti slabiji.

U paketu dolaze vrlo šture korisničke upute, CD sa driverima, S-Video to Composite kabel, S-Video kabel (muško - ženski), DVI to VGA adapter i Molex to PCIe Power kabel. Dakle ništa posebno i sve u svrhu štednje.

 

PEAK HD3850 512MB

S obzirom da su kartice gotovo identične u predstavljanju ovog modela ćemo pokazati samo slike pakiranja i same kartice. Kutija i bundle su identični, a samo su oznake izmjenjene.

RV670 na ovoj kartici kuca na 670MHz, a 512MB Samsungove GDDR3 memorije (K4J52324QE-BC12) na 830MHz. Hladnjak je u ovom slučaju dizajnom identičan onom na jačem modelu, sa tom razlikom da je napravljen isključivo od aluminija. Zanimljivo će biti vidjeti koliko je učinkovit, odnosno koliki ćemo OC ostvariti. PCB je identičan, a razlika u ugrađenim komponentama je jedino vidljiva kod kondenzatora. Na 3870 modelu su bili isključivo Sanyovi dok su na ovom modelu kombinacija Sanyovih i KZG-ovih.
