Pakiranje i bundle

Gigabyte se već duže vremena drži istog dizajna svojih kutija. Mi smo ovaj primjerak dobili u tzv. "white box-u" kao inženjerski primjerak, pa smo ovu sliku posudili od proizvođača. Ono što se posebno naglašava na pakiranju je Ultra Durable 3 tehnologija izrade i njeni sastavni dijelovi. Korisnik kao i uvijek na omotu može naći sve relevantne informacije o proizvodu.

Kao što smo ranije spomenuli ploča je napravljena u Ultra Durable 3 tehnologiji koja podrazumjeva korištenje 2oz bakra unutar PCB-a (do sada je korišten 1oz bakar). OZ je imperijalna jedinica za mjeru težine, a u ovom se slučaju odnosi na težinu bakra unutar jedne kvadratne stope (12 x 12 inča). Poduplana količina bakra znači i nižu impedanciju te bolju disipaciju topline. Korišteni su Solid state kondenzatori Japanske proizvodnje snižene ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) vrijednosti, prigušnice sa feritnim jezgrama i MOSFET-i snižene RDS(on) vrijednosti. Korištenje UD3 bi po Gigabyteu trebalo rezultirati poboljšanjem overclockinga, snižavanjem gubitaka električne energije te smanjenjem zagrijavanja.

Kao što vidimo iz tablica ploča ima vrlo solidan bundle i tu je gotovo sve što vam može zatrebati - ipak je riječ o top modelu. Što se tiče stražnjeg I/O panela iznenadio nas je ogroman broj USB portova koji korisnicima ne ostavlja mjesta za pritužbe. Čak dva različita Firewire konektora i dva mrežna porta sa podrškom za Teaming jasno daju do znanja kako Gigabyte ne štedi kada je riječ o najjačim modelima. Čipset je dobro poznati AMD-ov 790FX + SB750 koji se već otprije dokazao kao solidan proizvod. Idealan svakako nije, a suparnički nForce 980a SLI nismo isprobali pa ne možemo reći i je li najbolje rješenje za Phenome.

Gigabyte je za ovu ploču koristio plavo-bijelu kombinaciju boja, koja vam na prvi pogled nepogrešivo govori kako je riječ o DDR3 varijanti ploče (DDR2 ploče imaju crveno-narančastu kombinaciju). Layout ploče je čista Gigabyteova klasika te možemo reći kako je sve smješteno tamo gdje treba i biti sa tek ponekim izuzecima. Zbog popriličnog broja komponenata na ploči vlada malena gužva. Premda se čini kako je regulacija napona 8+2 fazna, ona je zapravo 4+1 fazna. Hlađenje ploče je vrlo dobro i masivno te ne pokazuje slabosti ni pri visokom overclockingu. Riječ je o kombinaciji pasivnih aluminijskih blokova postavljenih na naponsku kontrolu, northbridge i southbridge koji su povezani jednom toplovodnom cijevi. Postavljanje memorijskih modula u plave utore je preporučljivo napraviti prije ugradnje masivnijeg aftermarket hladnjaka, jer isti znaju u potpunosti prekriti ta dva utora. Ispod memorijskih slotova nalazi se naponska kontrola, dvije tipke za Power On i Reset, ATX konektor te IDE i Floppy konektori. Sve je poprilično stisnuto no ne bi trebalo zadavati glavobolje prilikom korištenja.

Na lijevoj strani južnog dijela ploče se nalaze dva PCIe x16, tri PCIe x1te dva PCI utroa. Oba PCIe x16 utora rade u punoj brzini. Kod korištenja dual-slot grafičkih kartica gubi se funkcionalnost jednog PCIe x1 i jednog PCI utora. Ispred PCIe i PCI utora se nalaze LAN, Audio i Super I/O (IT8720F) kontroleri. Na samom dnu ploče su s lijeva na desno postavljeni zastarjeli COM i LPT interni konektori (preko IT8720F), te jedan Firewire (TSB43AB23) i dva USB interna konektora. Što se tiče desne južne strane tu je smješteno čak deset SATA portova od kojih šest kontrolira SB750 (plavi konektori) a ostatak dva JMB322 kontrolera sa podrškom za Smart Backup i RAID 0, RAID 1 i JBOD. SB750 kao što je vidljivo iz tablice podržava SATA RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 i JBOD. Vrlo je pohvalno što su svi SATA konektori postavljeni vodoravno, a ne okomito u odnosu na ploču. Do SATA priključaka smjestila se i CMOS Reset tipka, koja na sebi ima prozirnu kapicu kako ne bi došlo do slučajnog pritiskanja. Smještaj dotične tipke je nespretan ukoliko koristite dužu karticu. U našem slučaju je to bila HD4870X2 koja ga je djelomično prekrila. Pored klasičnih front panel priključaka, smjestila su se i dva tro-pinska konektora za ventilatore. Na ploči inače ima ukupno tri 3-pinska i jedan 4-pinski konektor za ventilatore.

BIOS je dobro poznati Awardov i svatko tko se već susretao sa Gigabyteovim pločama će se lako snaći u njemu. Overclocking opcija ima pregršt u središnjem MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T) dijelu. Za razliku od nekih predthodnih ploča, ova ima množitelje izražene u klasičnom obliku i nije ih potrebno preračunavati. Memorijske postavke se također mogu vrlo detaljno uštimavati, a čitav korisnikov "custom setup" se može spremiti ili pozvati iz memorije pritiskom na tipke F11 i F12. Uglavnom, na BIOS apsolutno nemamo zamjerki a uskoro ćemo vidjeti i kako overclocking funkcionira u praksi.
