Način testiranja i overclocking

Način testiranja se nije previše promijenio od prethodnih testova AMD platformi. Ovaj puta smo koristili otključani Phenom II X3 720 procesor, koji nažalost nije jedan od onih primjeraka kojem je moguće otključati četvrtu jezgru. Ubuduće će njegovo mjesto u testnoj kofiguraciji popuniti nedavno pristigli Phenom II 955. Obje ploče su iz dobro poznatih razloga (procesor) imale problema sa radom memorije na 1333MHz. Na 1600MHz i više je sve radilo ok, no više latencije nisu dozvoljavale bolje rezultate. Nakon nekoliko sati igranja sa postavkama zaključili smo kako je brzina od 1066MHz sa pripadajućim latencijama najbrža opcija za obje ploče. Gigabyte-ica si je defaultno odabrala niže latencije od Foxconn-ice te su one iznosile 5-5-5-15, a 6-6-6-16 za A7DA-S. Napomenimo i kako nismo uspjeli natjerati Foxconnovu ploču da radi na nižim latencijama, te se i to mora uzeti u obzir prilikom pregleda rezultata.

Sa softverske strane tu su aplikacije koje i inače koristimo prilikom testiranja matičnih ploča. Većih razlika između ovih AM3 ploča u rezultatima ne bi trebalo biti, a za usporedbu smo u nekoliko testova ubacili i rezultate Foxconnove A79A-S ploče sa 790FX + SB750 čipsetom te DDR2 memorijom.

Što se tiče Gigabyte-ice overclocking je prošao vrlo glatko, te smo sa lakoćom i bez previše intervencija na naponima postigli 300MHz. Uz malo povišene napone, uspjeli smo stabilno (12 sati OCCT-a) držati 310MHz. Ploča je išla i dalje no ne više tako stabilno. Nakon toga smo probali podići množitelj procesora i završili smo na solidnih i stabilnih 3.61GHz. Iznad toga procesor jednostavno nije bio stabilan. Memorija je u tom trenutku radila na 1210MHz sa latencijama 5-5-5-15. Ovako podešen sistem je donio i veliko ukupno povećanje performansi, te je pomogao boljem iskorištenju HD4870X2 kartice. Što se Foxconnove ploče tiče moramo priznati kako nas je pomalo razočarala. U prošlosti smo i jeftinije ploče tjerali do 260MHz, dok ovaj model nije htio više od 240Mhz bez obzira na to koliko podizali napone i spuštali množitelj HT Linka (na slici ćete vidjeti brzinu od 2400MHz za HT Link što uopće nije loše).
