Način testiranja i overclocking rezultati

Memoriju smo testirali na i7 platformi koja se sastojala od Core i7 920 procesora, te Biostarove TPower X58 ploče. S obzirom da više nismo na Core 2 platformi, pravila igre su nešto drukčija i kompliciranija. S obzirom da smo imali 790i Ultra ploču na prošlim testiranjima DDR3 memorije, problema nije bilo. FSB smo postavili fiksno na neku vrijednosti pomoći Unlinked moda se igrali s memorijom i njezinim potencijalom. Ovdje smo prije samog OC-a memorije morali prije svega upoznati našu ploču bolje i vidjeti kakve su joj mogućnosti po pitanju bclka (base clock, ili bivši FSB), pa po pitanju maksimalne brzine NB-a, odnosno Uncore frekvencije i ostalih faktora. Da ne duljimo, testiranje je proteklo ovako. Smanjili smo množitelj procesora na 19, te digli množitelj memorije na 10. Nakon čega smo samo manevrirali sa Bclkom tj FSB-om i time overclockirali memoriju. S obzirom da se pri tome dizala i brzina procesora (što je neizbježno), rezultati će biti mrvicu drugačiji, no razlike ćete primjetiti. Kao i obično u planu smo imali testirati memoriju na par postavki. Pri stock naponu od 1.5V, sa 1.7V prijeći na 1.9V, te eventualno podići i na 2.1V ukoliko memorija pokaže potencijal. Za testiranje smo koristili standardnu bateriju testova, ovaj puta smo ubacili i dvije igre u test, a sljedeći puta ćemo pripremiti još nešto opširnije kako bismo dobili što realniji pregled performansi.

Kako to i obično biva, ništa nije tako sjajno pa tako niti overclocking mogućnosti ove memorije, koje su jednom rječju – (jako) loše. Memorija se, ovisno o postavljenom setu latencija, ponaša čudno. Što više opuštamo latencije, to memorija lošije reagira na napon. Zaista interesantna pojava. U gore navedenoj tablici vidite kako memorija (loše) skalira po danom naponu. Na CL7 je sve u redu do nekih 1.8V, sve preko toga ili se ruši ili nema svrhe. Sa opuštenijih CL8, testovi padaju na oko 1.7V i više, dok na CL9 memorija odbija poslušnost već na oko 1.58V. Zaista čudno. Da bi stvar bila bolja, probali smo memoriju za svaki slučaj na nForce 790i Ultra ploči kako bismo se 100% uvjerili u dobivene rezultate, te maksimalni overclock memorije. Znači na i7 platformi smo dobili memoriju na maksimalno 1720MHz, stabilno i 1800MHz maksimalno.

Dok smo ju na nForce 790i dobili na oko 1850MHz, doduše u dual channelu. Dali smo joj i soka kako bismo bili sigurni od propusta. Sa više od 2V ne želi bootati uopće, što nam ukazuje i na samu prirodu novih čipova koji nisu namijenjeni za velike napone, odnosno svoj "sweet spot" imaju na oko 1.7V - ili barem ova memorija ima.
