Test AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE, Phenom II X2 550 BE & Athlon II X2 250 procesora

Prvi AM3 procesori s kojima smo se susreli bili su Phenom II X4 810 i X3 720 Black Edition koje smo tada testirali na AM2 platformi. Dolaskom prve AM3 ploče u naš lab pokušali smo dokučiti ima li smisla prelazak na novu platformu, te da li DDR3 donosi prednost. Kao što smo vidjeli dobitak nije velik, no s obzirom na smanjenje cijena DDR3 memorije njen izbor nije neisplativ. Nedavno su nam u lab stigla tri nova AM3 procesora za koje smo htjeli vidjeti kako dišu u svakodnevnom radu, te najviše kakav overclocking potencijal imaju. O tehnologiji, odnosno Shanghai arhitekturi koja stoji iza ovih procesora je sve već rečeno i napisano pa vas nećemo previše time zamarati. Ono na što ćemo se više osvrnuti je Athlon II X2 250 koji za razliku od Phenoma ima znatno manji broj tranzistora, drugačiju arhitekturu priručne memorije te manji TDP.

955 Black Edition će biti najbrži i najmoćniji AMD-ov procesor sve do pojave 965 BE modela koji će raditi na visokih 3.4GHz (ako ne računamo TWKR koji ionako neće u prodaju). Kao što znamo kod AMD-a, Black Edition izvedba znači da je množitelj otključan. Po defaultu je postavljen množitelj 16x te njegove četiri jezgre rade na taktu od 3.2GHz. Naravno riječ je o AM3 procesoru, koji dakle ima 938 pinova i DDR3 memorijski kontroler (uz DDR2). Ako radi na DDR2 ploči tada podržava memoriju brzine do 1066MHz, dok na DDR3 maksimalno do 1333MHz. Arhitektura priručne memorije je jednaka kao i na ostalim Denebima sa 6MB L3 memorije. U travnju je uz ovaj procesor predstavljen i 945 model koji nema otključani množitelj, a radi na okruglih 3.0GHz. Ovi procesori imaju TDP od 125W.

Još jedan Black Edition, ali ovaj puta dvojezgreni skriva se iza oznake X2 550 BE (kodno ime Callisto). Riječ je o procesoru koji dolazi sa istog waffera kao i 955 BE što znači da ima četiri jezgre od kojih su dvije ili defektne ili onesposobljene za rad. Pojedini primjerci se daju "otključati" pa zapravo sretnici koji na njih "nalete" imaju procesor identičan 955-ici. Mi naravno nismo bili te sreće i naš procesor je tvrdoglavo radio na samo dvije jezgre. Defaultna postavka množitelja je 15.5x što znači da procesor kuca na 3.1GHz. Arhitektura priručne memorije je ista kao i na prethodno opisanom procesoru, dok je TDP znatno niži te iznosi 80W.

Za kraj smo ostavili najjeftiniji procesor u današnjem testu koji se i arhitekturno razlikuje od prethodno opisanih. Athloni II nose kodno ime Regor i zapravo su to pravi dvojezgreni procesori. Dakle imaju samo dvije jezgre, a ne četiri kao Phenomi II, kojima su naknadno onesposobljene jedna ili dvije jezgre za X3 i X2 modele. To znači kako imaju i znatno manje tranzistora - točnije 234 milijuna (površina jezgre je 117.5 mm2) naprema 758 milijuna (površina jezgre je 258 mm2) koliko imaju Phenomi II. Samim time je i potrošnja električne energije znatno smanjena, tako da Athloni II imaju TDP od 65W. Za razliku od Phenoma II čiji memorijski kontroleri podržavaju DDR2 memoriju brzine do 1066MHZ, te DDR3 memoriju brzine do 1333MHZ, Athlonov podržava DDR2-800 te DDR3-1066MHz. Kao što smo i ranije spomenuli, Regori imaju drugačiju arhitekturu priručne memorije. L3 memorija je u potpunosti uklonjena, dok je L2 povećana sa 512KB na 1024KB po jezgri. Ovo bi donekle trebalo kompenzirati nedostatak L3 memorije, a koliko pokušati ćemo saznati iz testova. Napomenimo i kako Athloni II neće dolaziti sa otključanim množiteljima, tj. neće biti Black Edition-a.
