Način testiranja i overclocking

Način testiranja se nije znatno izmjenio od našeg prethodnog testa, a za ubuduće najavljujemo neke promjene. Uglavnom, testovi su kombinacija sintetike i poneke real-life aplikacije. Neke od njih znaju iskoristiti četiri jezgre, neke ne a kao što ćete i vidjeti tu je i jedna igra kroz koju smo htjeli vidjeti koliko je procesor bitan za povećanje performansi. Kako ne bi došlo do situacije uskog grla u slučaju grafičkog testa koristili smo brzu HD4870X2 karticu. Testna platforma je bila naša standardna za AMD, a procesore smo hladili Noctuinim NH-U12P hladnjakom. Kao što ćete vidjeti Phenom X2 550 smo spustili na takt Athlona X2 250 kako bi direktno usporedili razlike u arhitekturi priručne memorije. Kao i u testu AM3 matičnih ploča memoriju smo "vrtili" na 1066MHz na najnižim mogućim latencijama jer se ta kombinacija pokazala najbržom. Intelovih se procesora nažalost nismo mogli "dokopati" pa direktne usporedbe nažalost nema.

Najmoćniji i najskuplji procesor na testu je bio prvi na redu za overclocking. Kao i uvijek cilj nam je bio postići maksimalni stabilni takt na kojem će procesor sve svoje zadaće izvršavati u vremenu 24/7. Nije nam cilj navinuti ga do krajnjih granica gdje će biti stabilan tek toliko da podigne OS. Bez dizanja napona smo množitelj uspjeli podići sa 16x na 19x i postigli brzinu od 3.817GHz. Podizanje napona daljnje povećanje množitelja i brzine sabirnice nije se pokazalo uspješno jer je procesor bio vrlo nestabilan na našim testovima stabilnosti. Uspjeli smo podići OS i na 4.1GHz pri 1.55V, te završiti poneki kraći test no svaki duži rad se pokazao nestabilnim. Ovo nam naravno govori da procesor ima kapaciteta za dalje, no potrebno je i ekstremnije hlađenje.

Sljedeći na redu je bio dvojezgreni model za kojega smo se nadali da bi mogao ići malo bolje od 955-ice zbog nižeg TDP-a. To nije bio slučaj i maksimala mu je bila identična - 3.817MHz, tj. množitelj 19x. Za razliku od 955-ice ovaj procesor to nije postigao na osnovnom naponu, već smo ga moralipodići na 1.424V. Baš kao i kod 955-ice, podizali smo OS i izvršavali neke kraće testove i na višim frekvencijama, no apsolutna stabilnost je bila samo na 3.8GHz.

Najjeftiniji procesor na testu nije imao otključan množitelj te smo ga overclockirali na klasični način podizanja brzine sabirnice. Nakon dužeg perioda "igranja" sa postavkama i traženja onih najidealnijih zaustavili smo se na 260MHz što je rezultiralo brzinom procesora od 3.9GHz. Athlon je lakše podnosio viši napon na zračnom hlađenju te smo vrhunac postigli na 1.504V, što je kod prethodna dva procesora bilo previše za naš Nocta NH-U12P hladnjak. U svakom slučaju će biti vrlo zanimljivo vidjeti koliki rast performansi donosi 900MHz ubrzanja, te kako se ovaj Athlon II nosi sa Phenomima II. Krenimo na testove!
