- Antialiasing i Anisotropic kvaliteta, test sistem i način testiranja -
AntiAliasing

Primjere načina rada antialiasinga vam pokazujemo na slikama uzetima iz WOW-a. Na prve dvije slike možete vidjeti scenu bez AA filtriranja i sa 2xAA na HD5870 kartici. Na druge dvije je usporedba 4x AA sa HD5870 i 4xAA sa HD4870X2, dok su zadnje dvije u 8x AA modu. Kao što možemo primjetiti razlike između 2x i 4x su primjetne tek ukoliko se dobro zagledamo u scenu, dok prilikom 8x stvarno treba povećalom tražiti razlike. Ukoliko pogledamo razlike između HD5870 i HD4870X2 one i nisu velike. Biti će zanimljivo vidjeti u testovima kolika je razlika u padu performansi kod nove i kod stare arhitekture.

 

Anisotropic

Aniostropic filtering je kao što smo napisali doživio određene promjene. Baš kao i kod Nvidije on je sada invarijantan, tj. neovisan o kutu gledanja. Ovo bi trebalo donijeti poboljšanja a kolika su pogledajte i sami na ovim primjerima. Prve dvije slike su filtrirane na HD4890 i HD5870 karticama sa 16x postavkama. Druge dvije su primjeri Anisotropica na Nvidijinim karticama u High Quality i Quality postavkama. I baš kao što vidimo, nova generacija kartica donosi znatno poboljšanje. Kod Nvidije je uvijek poželjno odabrati HQ postavke (prva slika) koje nisu defaultne u driverima.

Način testiranja

S obzirom da je testiranje bilo potrebno izvesti u vrlo kratkom roku, nismo imali vremena pripremiti stroj sa novijim naslovima i benchmarcima, pa smo koristili nešto straije naslove. Iz istoga razloga nismo uspjeli nabaviti ni veće monitore koji bi pokazali pravu snagu ove kartice. Ipak u nekoliko naslova će te vidjeti kakve su joj performanse i što se od nje može očekivati. Usporedili smo ju sa dvije kartice iz prethodne generacije - HD4890 i HD4870X2 te jednom iz konkurentskog tabora - GTX285. Overclocking rezultate nećete vidjeti, djelom zato jer nema smisla overclockirati ovu karticu na nižim rezolucijama a dijelom zato jer je OC podržan samo preko drivera. Ipak, preko drivera smo došli do 900MHz za GPU i 1300MHz za memoriju pri čemu je kratica radila stabilno. Uz testove brzine, standardno smo napravili i testove potrošnje te zagrijavanja.
