Gigabyte Radeon HD5750 & Sapphire Radeon HD5750 VaporX ili kako radi najjeftiniji DX11 Crossfire?

Gigabyte je ponešto izmijenio dizajn pakiranja u odnosu na prethodnu ATI seriju. Sada koriste kombinaciju zelene boje koja prevladava i kod ostatka serije, te ljubičaste. Kao i uvijek na prednjoj strani se mogu vidjeti osnovne informacije o proizvodu, dok je stražnja strana rezervirana za one malo iscrpnije. Kao i do sada, Gigabyte se nije iskazao sa bogatim bundleom, i tu je samo ono najosnovnije - CD sa upravljačkim programima i aplikacijama, upute za korištenje, te VGA-HDMI i Molex-PCIe Power adapteri.

 

Predstavljena kada i HD5770 kartica, HD5750 je u suštini vrlo slična no ipak ponešto okljaštrena kako bi cijenom bila bliža 109 USD kolika je bila preporučena cijena za launch. Proizvođači kod jeftinijih modela imaju odriješene ruke, pa su tako u mogućnosti napraviti svoj PCB, koristiti sebi svojstvene tehnologije pri izradi te koristiti svoja hlađenja. Gigabyte se hvali kako je njihov PCB napravljen na Tajvanu, a za hlađenje koriste veliki aluminijski heatsink koji uz pomoć 80mm ventilatora odvodi toplinu sa GPU-a.

Nakon što uklonimo hladnjak u prvi plan uskače Juniper grafički procesor koji je postavljen naopaku u odnosu na orijentaciju PCB-a. Juniper čip je baš kao i u slučaju HD5770 modela razvijen iz Cypress čipa, te tako ima istu TeraScale 2 arhitekturu o kojoj smo pisali ranije. Juniper proizvodi TSMC u 40nm procesu, ima površinu od 166mm2 te 1.04 milijarde tranzistora. Za razliku od onoga na HD5770 kartici koji broji 800 stream procesora, u ovome je onemogućena jedna SIMD jezgra pa ih je ukupno 9. Ukoliko znamo da svaka SIMD jezgra ima 16 thread procesora koji se svaki sastoji od 5 stream jezgri dolazimo do ukupnog broja od 720 stream procesora u čipu na HD5750 kartici. Teksturnih jedinica je 32 (8 manje nego kod "punog" Junipera). Uz manjak stream procesora i takt je nešto niži pa umjesto na 850MHz radi na 700MHz, a procesna snaga iznosi 1.008 TFLOPs-a. Ova kartica bi se po svojoj snazi trebala nadmetati i u konačnici zamijeniti HD4850 model, a da mu može parirati vidjeti ćemo iz testova. S obje se strane PCB-a nalazi osam Hynixovih GDDR5 memorijskih čipova koji ukupno broje 1024MB kapaciteta, te rade na 1150MHz (4.6Gbps). Komuniciraju preko 128-bitnog sučelja, a maksimalna propusnost iznosi 73.6GB/s. Po oznakama na čipovima vidljivo je kako su deklarirani na 5Gbps, baš kao i oni na HD5770 karticama, pa očekujemo kako će se taktovi moći dodatno povisiti bez prevelikih problema. Strujni menadžment je vrlo sličan kao i na jačem modelu, a i dalje je za dodatno napajanje potrebno priključiti jedan 6-pinski PCIe Power konektor. PowerPlay je kao i na jačem modelu znatno poboljšan pa i ova kartica u mirovanju spušta taktove na 157MHz za GPU i 300MHz za memoriju. Kartica maksimalno troši 86W (dakle samo 11W više nego li je to PCIe x16 utor u stanju dati, a u stanju mirovanja potrošnja pada na 16W.

Za hlađenje slabijeg Junipera na Gigabyteovoj kartici brine se najjednostavniji aluminijski heatsink kojem u odvođenju topline pomaže tihi 80 milimetarski ventilator. Broj okretaja ventilatora je fiksan i putem drivera ga nije moguće promijeniti. Karakteristika cijele HD5xxx serije je podrška za Microsoftov DirectX 11 API, pa tako nije izostala niti na ovome modelu. On kao što znamo donosi podršku za Shader model 5.0, Multi-threading, DirectCompute 11 (Physics i AI), hardversku teselaciju, poboljpane sjene i kompresiju HDR tekstura. I ova kartica podržava ATI Eyefinity tehnologiju, a maksimalno je moguće koristiti tri monitora rezolucija do 1920x1200 piksela. ATI Avivo te HDMI 1.3 podrška sa Dolby True HD i DTS Master audiom također nije izostala. Podrška za UVD 2.0 donosi hardversko ubrzanje dekodiranja dvostrukog 1080p HD videa, zatim Video Gammu (koja je neovisna o Windows desktopu), svjetliju bijelu boju (Blue Strech procesing) i dinamički video opseg (kontrola nivoa crne i bijele poje tijekom reprodukcije). Kartica ima ukupno četiri video izlaza - dva DVI-I, jedan HDMI i jedan DisplayPort.
