Način testiranja i overclocking

Za početak ćemo odmah spomenuti problem na koji smo naišli. Naime, nikako nismo uspjevali instalirati operativni sistem što nam se nije odavno desilo, točnije od vremena korištenja jeftinijih ploča sa memorijskim modulima slabije kvalitete. U ploču su bili utaknuti OCZ-ovi Platinum Edition PC3-12800 stickovi i nismo vjerovali kako bi oni mogli biti problem, jer su do sada radili besprijekorno. Čim smo ih zamijenili G.Skillovim stvar je profunkcionirala i ostalo nam je jedino zaključiti kako je revizija BIOS-a još relativno nezrela (s obrziorm da OCZ-ova memorija i dalje radi odlično na ostalim pločama). Za usporedbu sa ASUS-ovom pločom smo koristili prethodno testirane Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0 i ECS A785GM-M modele koji imaju starije čipsete. Usporedbu sa Intelovim modelima nismo radili jer odnosi snage procesora su nam poznati baš kao i odnosti snage integrirane grafike iz prethodnih testova. Ono što svaki korisnik može zaključiti sam za sebe je odnos cijena koji u većini slučajeva preteže AMD-u.

Kao što smo već opisali, kod ove ploče postoje razni oblici automatskog overclockinga kojima se možemo poslužiti a neki od njih će dati i poprilično dobre rezultate. Mi smo za traženje maksimalne brzine sabirnice ipak koristili ručne postavke i overclockirali iz BIOS-a. Na početku odmah moramo ponovno spomenuti probleme na koje smo naišli. Ukoliko je memorijski djelitelj bio niži od osnovnog, to je značilo kako se ploča ne želi bootati na overclockiranim postavkama, tj. bilo čemu više od 200MHz FSB-a. Pripisujemo to nestabilnom BIOS-u baš kao i ranije spomenute probleme sa kompatibilnošću. To je značilo kako smo za uspješan OC trebali imati odlične memorijske stickove, kakvi su naši u ovome slučaju i bili. Postepenim podizanjem napona i frekvencije sabirnice, te snižavanjem množitelja procesora stigli smo do odličnih i stabilnih 330MHz. Procesor je radio na množitelju 11.5x (pri 3808MHz) jer se na 12x nije htio bootati, a memorija je pri tom radila na 1766MHz @ 1.7V. Više od toga nije htjelo, tj. sistem je bio nestabilan, a vjerujemo kako je uzrok upravo memorija. Da je djelitelj radio kako treba ili da smo imali bržu memoriju vjerujemo kako bi rezultat bio još bolji.

I premda će vjerojatno rijetko tko imati potrebe za overclockingom integrirane HD4290 grafičke kartice, ASUS je u svoju TurboV aplikaciju ugradio i tu mogućnost. Tako smo u mogućnosti osim frekvencija GPU-a i Sideport memorije, mijenjati i njihove napone. Još jednom ćemo pohvaliti ideju i mogućnosti ASUS-ovog TurboV softvera jer se ne viđa svaki dan mogućnost podizanja napona, no korist od svega toga upravo zbog snage (ili nedostatka iste) kod integrirane grafike je upitna. Bilo kako bilo mi smo joj ipak pokušali naći granice. Bez prevelikog podizanja napona, stigli smo do 850MHz (oko 22% ubrzanja) za GPU te do 1400MHz (oko 5%) za memoriju. Učinke ovoga smo provjerili kod FarCry 2 igre i primjetili malo preko 13% ubrzanja broja sličica u sekundi.
