Način testiranja i overclocking

Memoriju smo ovoga puta testirali na i3 platformi. Procesor korišten u testovima bio je Core i3 530 i Gigabyteova GA-H55-UD3H matična ploča. Procesor ide isprobano na 230MHz na zraku, što bi trebalo biti bolje od našeg prošlog i5 750 koji je kočio već na 220MHz na sobnim temperaturama. Naravno, bolji po pitanju frekvencijskih dosega. S obzirom da se memorijski kontroler kod Clarkdaleovih procesora nalazi u istom "košu" s grafikom i PCI-E kontrolerom, možemo vidjeti koliki je to bio udarac na performanse ovih procesora u memorijski ograničenim aplikacijama. Iz toga razloga rezultati postignuti u ovim testovima ne mogu biti uspoređeni sa rezultatima dobivenim s Lynnfield procesorima, što ćete imati prilike vidjeti i iz naših rezultata. Bilo bi idealno da smo mogli nabaviti i7 870, koji bi po pitanju kvalitete memorijskog kontrolera, ali i maksimalnog memorijskog množitelja (koji iznosi 12) vjerojatno pogodovao i većim frekvencijama, od onih koje smo mi dobili s i3 530 procesorom.

Ono što prije svega treba uzeti u obzir jesu uvjeti pod kojima je memorija testirana, a na kojim će raditi na većini ploča. Naime, u BIOS-u nismo imali dovoljno detaljne korake po pitanju dizanja napona, tako da smo imali na raspolaganju 1.3V ili 1.4V, dakle, nismo imali 1.35V na kojem je naponu ova memorija deklarirana. Tako da smo se na kraju odlučili na 1.3V, što je na kraju davalo 1.33V, realno, što je svakako činjenica koju treba imati u vidu kada gledamo gornje rezultate. Znači memorija je testirana na dvije postavke - 1.33V (1.3V u BIOS-u), te na 1.55v (1.56v u BIOS-u), i to u kombinaciji sa četiri seta latencija - 6-7-6-18, 7-8-7-21, 8-9-8-24 te 9-10-9-24. Zbog prirode čipova smo koristili nešto višu tRCD latenciju. Iako je memorija deklarirana na Command Rateu od 2T, mi smo testiranja obavili na 1T, tako da, uzmite da biste opuštanjem dotične dobili vjerojatno i nešto bolje overclocking rezultate.

Nešto o performansu (izvedbi) memorije. Iako smo memoriju testirali pri nižem naponu od deklariranog (1.33V), te Command Rate stegnuli na 1T, testirani ECO je uspio postići i nešto više frekvencije od deklariranih; točnije 1630MHz, 7-8-7, 1T. Pri istom naponu, dobili smo 1333MHz pri zategnutih 6-7-6, što također nije loš rezultat. Nadalje, opuštanjem latencije sa 7-8-7 na 8-9-8 nije baš pomoglo tako da smo stali na tek 1660MHz. Kao i od 9-10-9 postavki koje su kočile memoriju na 1750MHz, možda smo očekivali malo više.Memoriju smo overclockirali dizanjem baseclock frekvencije, kao i obično. S obzirom da smo već upoznati s mogućnostima našeg procesora, množitelj procesora smo stavili na 22, a množitelj memorije na maksimalnih 10, te započeli s overclockingom.

Kako je uz takve uvjete teško dobiti usporedive rezultate overclockinga memorije (dizanjem se baseclocka povećava i brzina procesora), odlučili smo se na nešto drukčiju formulu ovoga puta po pitanju seta naših testova. Koristili smo MaxxMem, aplikaciju slična Everestovom Memory Benchmarku, ali ozbiljnija i konzistentnija po pitanju točnosti rezultata. Nadalje, za stabilnost smo koristili Super Pi 32M, koji je opće prihvaćen u svijetu overclockinga, za što je na kraju krajeva ova memorija i namijenjena, te Primeov Blend test. Prelaskom na velikodušnijih 1.55V ili na tik nešto više od JEDEC-ovih 1.5V, dalo je mnogo opipljivije rezultate. Pri CL6 potegnuli smo na 1500MHz, dok je ECO pri CL7 dosegao brzine memorije pri prethodnih CL9. Opuštanjem na CL8 donosi pravo osvježenje gdje vidimo pravi potencijal ove memorije te postižemo gotovo 2000MHz, stabilno.

Validacija

Opuštanjem latencija na CL9 dovodi nas do 2100MHz gdje prekidamo našu avanturu i prelazimo na maksimalnu frekvenciju sa 1.6v. Kako vidite ovaj smo puta ipak bili nešto konzvervativniji po pitanju napona jer još istražujemo ponašanje memorije prilikom većih napona, a i voljeli bismo probati ovu memoriju s nekim Lynnfieldom jer vjerujemo da ECO može više u svakom pogledu, pogotovo uzevši u obzir da je maksimalna frekvencija koju smo postigli 2300MHz pri 1.6V. Svakako odličan rezultat, a što je najbolje, s ovom memorijom nećete morati brinuti oko napona VTT-a s obzirom da su naponi koje smo koristili pri testiranju debelo unutar Intelovih specifikacija, odnosno sigurnih za Core i7/i5/i3 procesore. Uz gornju tablicu i donje grafove, dodali smo i dvije velike slike u kojim su sadržati screenshotovi postignutih rezultata.
