Pri osnovnoj brzini procesora (3.3 - 3.9GHz) je jasno da će svi hladnjaci imati solidne performanse, jer nemaju zahtjevan zadatak. Ipak, Intelov je hladnjak zabilježio nešto lošiji rezultat zbog činjenice da ga je automatska kontrola držala na vrlo niskim okretajima pri čemu je bio vrlo tih. Corsair se na niskoj brzini solidno nosi s Noctuom, a pri tome je baš kao i ona vrlo tih u radu. Na visokim je okretajima najbolji, no tada je buka već dosta visoka.

Stvari se zakuhavaju kada prijeđemo na overclocking. Na za šest jezgreni procesor visokih 4.7GHz pri 1.46V naši junaci trebaju pokazati svoje prave vrline. Noctuin se D14 zbog dobrih ventilatora i velike disipacijske površine drži vrlo dobro i procesor hladi na 71°C. Jedan jedini ventilator na Intelovom hladnjaku je sada već u vrlo visokim okretajima (automatska kontrola) i buka je dosta visoka, no procesor uspijeva ohladiti na solidnih 70°C. Corsair se pak na niskim okretajima pokazao malčice slabijim, no taj jedan stupanj mu nije za zamjeriti zbog i dalje vrlo tihog rada. Kada na Corsairova dva ventilatora podignemo brzinu na maksimum tada je on i najbolji sa 66°C. Buka je ipak previsoka, pa kao moralni pobjednik ovdje izlazi D14 s najboljim omjerom performanse/buka.

 

Zaključak

NH-D14 je bio i ostao jedan od najjačih zračnih hladnjaka za procesore. Jedine mane u cijeloj stvari su njegove ogromne dimenzije te tek mrvicu glasniji 14 cm ventilator. Sve ostalo je odlično, od kvalitete materijala, preciznosti izrade i završne obrade, preko na kraju ipak tihog rada, pa do odličnih performansi. Novog je Sandy Bridgea E s lakoćom držao na 4.7GHz, a da smo imali bolju ploču vjerujemo kako bi se to nastavilo i dalje do 5.0GHz. U odnosu na Intelovo (Asetekovo) rješenje, D14 je tek za koji stupanj slabiji, no i dalje znatno tiši. U odnosu pak na Corsairovo je rješenje također malo slabiji no isto je tako tiši u radu. Corsairovo se rješenje pokazalo izvrsnim za jači overclocking, no tada pri najvišim okretajima dosta i buči (ipak nešto niže nego Intelov hladnjak).

Što se LGA2011 kita tiče riječ je o mehanizmu kojeg je jednostavno montirati, a donosi dobro poznatu Noctuinu kvalitetu. Ipak, ta se daleko poznata kvaliteta ipak malo pokvarila kada su u pitanju vijci. Materijal je mekan i pri učestalom se korištenju urezi za križni odvijač "razlohaju". Ipak, korisnicima koji rijetko skidaju hladnjak ovo se ne bi trebalo dešavati. Sve u svemu, Noctuin D14 s kitom za LGA2011 je idealan odabir za tu platformu i za najjače procesore.

 

Conclusion

NH-D14 was and still is one of the best air coolers for processors. The only flaws in the whole thing are its vast dimensions, and slightly louder 14 cm fan. Everything else is great, from the quality of materials, precision workmanship and finishing, through in the end its quiet operation, to the excellent performance. New Sandy Bridge E is easily kept at 4.7GHz, and if we had a better board it would be the same at 5.0GHz also. Compared to the Intel`s (Asetek`s) solution, D14 is just a bit weaker but much much quieter. In comparison with the Corsair`s H70 it was also slightly weaker but also a lot quieter. H70 is proved to be an excellent solution for overclocking, but then at the highest speeds it produces a lot of noise (though slightly lower than Intel`s cooler).

Noctua`s LGA2011 kit is a great mechanism which is easily mounted and delivers a well-known Noctua`s quality. However, this is well known quality a bit spoiled when it comes to screws. The material is soft and the frequent use will loosen up the Phillips head. However, with users who rarely remove the mechanism this should not happen. All in all, Noctua`s D14 with kit for LGA2011 is the ideal choice for that platform and the most powerful processor.
