Iz ADATA-e su nam na test poslali novi SSD koji su namijenili igračima, PC entuzijastima, i profesionalcima iz područja grafike. S40G zahvaljujući kontroleru, PCIe Gen. 3 x4 sučelju i novom tipu 3D NAND memorije postiže vrlo visoke brzine čitanja i zapisa od čak 3,5 GB/s, te 2,4 GB/s. Dolazi s integriranim hladnjakom koji ima dvije RGB LED trake, čiji se efekti mogu podešavati ili putem ADATA softvera ili putem podržanih softvera proizvođača matičnih ploča te se tako može uskladiti s ostatkom osvijetljenih komponenata.

Uređaj dolazi u malenoj kartonskoj kutijici i blister pakiranju unutar nje. Sav popratni softver je potrebno skinuti s XPG stranica, a riječ je o SSD Toolboxu za nadzor parametara rada i ostale funkcije, Acronis True Image HD-u za migriranje podataka, XPG RGB softveru za kontrolu osvjetljenja, a pratiti redovito treba i nadogradnje firmwarea. Mi smo testirali s posljednjom VB411D41 verzijom. Jamstvo na uređaj je 5-godišnje ograničeno.

Spectrix S40G je kao što znamo i vidimo dio XPG obitelji, a riječ je o SSD-u M.2 2280 formata koji na sebi ima integriran hladnjak i dvije trake od mliječne plastike s RGB LED-icama. Ispod "haube" se krije Realtekov RTS5762 kontroler, predstavljen još na prošlogodišnjem Computexu. RTS5762 je osam kanalni flash kontroler s NVMe 1.3 specifikacijom koji podržava različite verzije NAND memorije (3D TLC ili 3D QLC), ima podršku za SLC keširanje, 256-bitnu AES enkripciju te LDPC bazirane ECC metode (Low-density Parity-Check Error Correction Code). S40G dolazi u tri varijante kapaciteta - 256, 512 i 1 TB. Nama je na test stigao model s 512 GB, koji ima četiri IMFT-ova 3D TLC NAND čipa (Micron), 128 MB DDR4 DRAM buffer (Nanya), te ima izdržljivost od 320 TBW (terabytes written).

Proizvođač navodi podatak od 3,5 GB/s za čitanje te 2,4 GB/s za zapis kod ovoga modela, dok 1 TB model zapisuje brzinom od 3 GB/s. Nasumične performanse su 300.000 IOPS-a za čitanje i 240.000 IOPS-a za zapis. Sučelje uređaja je jasno PCIe Gen. 3 x4, a komunikacija se odvija putem NVMe 1.3 protokola. Radna temperatura mu je do 70°C, MTBF je dva milijuna sati, te ima otpornost na šok od 1.500G u trajanju od 0.5 milisekundi. Kao što smo rekli, jamstvo je 5-godišnje, ograničeno, i vezano je jasno uz TBW vrijednost. Uređaj je dimenzija 22 x 80 x 8 milimetara, te mase 13,4 grama.

S40G je poseban po dvije trake od mliječne plastike u kojima su smještene RGB LED-ice, što je jasno u skladu s modernim trendovima. Oni kojima se to ne sviđa mogu biti zadovoljni činjenicom da je to moguće isključiti, ili pak u potpunosti ukloniti hladnjak i disk staviti pod veći kapacitetniji hladnjak. Zašto to i nije loša ideja, vidjet ćemo malo kasnije. No, oni koji vole osvjetljenje svega i svačega, pa tako i SSD-a će uživati u činjenici da je moguće kontrolirati ga ili putem ADATA-inog XPG RGB softvera ili pak jednog od podržanih softvera proizvođača matičnih ploča - Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0, MSI Mystic Light Sync i ASRock Polychrome Sync.

Uz pomoć XPG RPG aplikacije možemo mijenjati ponašanje svake od osam ugrađenih LED-ica zasebno, spremati profile, te mijenjati efekte kao što su - Static, Breathing, Strobing, Cycle, Rainbow, Breathing Rainbow, Comet, Comet Rainbow, Flash, Flash, Rainbow, Wave, Glowing Yoyo, Starry Night i Default. Sve efekte možemo vidjeti u videu iznad.

I za kraj dolazimo do zagrijavanja, a ono je nemalo. Čak 75°C pod opterećenjem je alarmantna brojka, pogotovo stoga što sam proizvođač navodi maksimum od 70°C, no oni su možda mislili na ambijentalnu temperaturu. Bilo kako bilo, S40G zahtijeva dobro aktivno hlađenje, dobar "propuh" u kućištu da ne bi dolazilo do smanjenja performansi, ali i trajnijeg oštećenja uređaja.

Način testiranja

Disk smo testirali na novoj AMD-ovoj X570 platformi. Ploča je bila odlična ASRockova X570 Phantom Gaming X, procesor za sada najjači Ryzen 9 3900X, memorija G.Skillova Trident Z Neo čiju će te recenziju čitati uskoro, a grafička kartica je bila referentna Radeon RX5700. SSD je radio je u PCIe 3.0 x4 modu s NVMe driverima. Uz sve standardne testove koje provodimo tu je i simulacija četiriju situacija uz pomoć I/O Metera – Database sa 67% čitanja i 33% zapisa, Workstation s 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, Web Servera sa 100% čitanja i File Servera s 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, nakon čega ispisujemo broj izmjerenih IOPS-a. Savjeti za svakodnevnu operativu SSD-a pod Windows OS-om uključuju isključivanje stvari kao što su indeksiranje diska, zatim isključivanje prefetcha i Superfetcha te defragmentiranja koje je sasvim nepotrebno.

Na temelju izvršenih mjerenja performansi donosi rezultat u MB/s. Spectrix S40G ovdje postiže vrlo dobar rezultat i jedino ga Transcend SSD 220S nadmašuje. No samo pod jednim uvjetom, da ga i adekvatno hladi, jer bez hlađenja performanse dugotrajnog zapisa drastično padaju.

I AS SSD i Cyrstal koriste nekompresibilne podatke, no mjerenja im se ponešto razlikuju pa ih koristimo oba za usporedbu. Performanse su nešto niže nego obećane, pogotovo kod sekvencijalnog zapisa koji jje izmjerio ASSSD, a on je izmjerio i nešto veće pristupno vrijeme kod čitanja. ATTO Disk Benchmark

ATTO test smo izvrtili u tri scenarija. Prvi je bio standardan s fajlom veličine 2 GB, drugi s fajlom od 32 GB. Oba testa pokazuju solidne rezultate na cijelom području. Treći je test zanimljiv jer pokazuje IOPS performanse koje na 4K I/O size (najčešće mjereno) iznose 122.750 za zapis i 45.250 za čitanje što je manje nego što navodi proizvođač. Spectrix ovdje nije pokazao spektakularne rezultate i za profesionalnu upotrebu će svakako puno bolji biti SX8200, ili pak Transcendov S220 te Kingstonov KC1000..

Spectrix S40G je svakako vrlo zanimljiv M.2 SSD koji će se svidjeti entuzijastima, overclockerima i ljubiteljima svjetlećeg hardvera, a istovremeno im donijeti i vrlo solidne performanse. Ako ste pak profesionalni korisnik, bolje se okrenuti SX8200 modelu koji je ovoga nadmašio u IOPS testovima, jer naravno, brzina transfera nije sve što je bitno. No, S40G ima i jednu izraženu manu, a to je neadekvatan komad lima na njemu koji "glumi" hladnjak. Temperatura od 75°C je iznimno visoka i opasna, pa je ako želite uživati u osvjetljenju nužno osigurati zračnu struju preko SSD-a koja temperaturu spušta za desetak ili više °C. Za kraj cijena, Na hrvatskom se tržištu još ne prodaje, a na njemačkom se za 512 GB model traži od 77 € na više što je sasvim konkurentna cijena. Eh da, za odbaciti nije ni 5-godišnje jamstvo.
