Iz MSana nam je na test stigao Transcendov najnoviji PCIe SSD 220S kapaciteta 512 GB. Ovaj SSD dolazi u M.2 2280 formatu i s podrškom za NVMe 1.3 standard. Proizvođač deklarira brzine transfera od 3.500 MB/s za čitanje, te 2.800 MB/s za zapis podataka, uz trajnost do 800 TBW.

Pakiranje ovog malenog i samo 8 grama teškog uređaja je minimalističko. Blister kutijica je smještena u karton koji na vrhu ima rupu za smještanje na police trgovina. Tako je kupovina 512 GB ili čak 1 TB M.2 SSD-a jednako jednostavna kao primjerice kakve SD kartice ili memory sticka. Jedan od bitnijih podataka koji se nalazi na pakiranju je da proizvođač na ovaj proizvod daje 5 godina ograničenog jamstva.

PCIe SSD 220S je prema proizvođaču, namijenjen upotrebi u high-end primjeni što uključuje audio/video produkciju, gaming i enterprise. Napravljen je na 22 x 80 formatu s M.2 konektorom, PCIe x4 Gen3 vezom i kontrolerom koji podržava NVMe 1.3 sučelje. Proizvođač ne navodi nikakve detalje o kontroleru koji koriste, a 3D NAND memorija je brendirana njihovim imenom.

Ono što nas sve najviše zanima je koji je kontroler upotrijebljen za ovaj SSD. Riječ je o dobro poznatom Silicon Motionovom SM2262 s četiri ARM Cortex-R5 jezgre i podrškom za osam NAND kanala. Nativno podržava NVMe 1.3 standard, LDPC ECC, RAID Engine itd. Kontroleru je od pomoći i DDR3 keš memorija kapaciteta 256 GB. Proizvođač navodi podatke samo o linearnoj brzini čitanja od 3.500 MB/s, te zapisao od 2.800 MB/s, kao i podatak o maksimalnom broju mogućih zapisa od 800 TBW (Terabytes written). Ovdje ide i napomena da se ovi podaci najvjerojatnije odnose na 1 TB model. Podaci o nasumičnim I/O performansama su nedostupni.

Ovaj SSD ima četiri su 64-slojna 3D TLC NAND memorijska čipa s Toshiba brandingom maksimalnog kapaciteta od 512 GB (477 GB korisnog prostora u NTFS-u). Proizvođač uz sve SSD-e omogućava i korištenje korisnog SSD Scope softvera, no iz nekog razloga verzija 3.8.0 nije ispravno htjela prepoznati naš SSD.

SM2262 ima integriran i dinamičku termalnu regulaciju, te kada dosegne određenu temperaturu spušta performanse. Da nam se to ne bi često dešavalo najbolje je na SSD postaviti aluminijskih hladnjak, čak štoviše rekli bi da je to apsolutno nužno za svaki M.2 SSD, ali i osigurati dobru zračnu struju preko njega. Mi smo izmjerili maksimalnih 55°C samo s aluminijskim hladnjakom, a kada tome pridodamo i zračnu struju temperatura pada debelo ispod 50°C. S korištenjem aluminijskog hladnjaka na testnoj ploči nismo primijetili usporavanje ni prilikom dugotrajnog testiranja i rada.

Način testiranja

Disk smo testirali na Intelovoj novoj Z390 platformi, tj. ASRockovoj Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 ploči i s i7-8700K procesorom. Radio je u PCIe 3.0 x4 modu s NVMe driverima. Uz sve standardne testove koje provodimo tu je i simulacija četiriju situacija uz pomoć I/O Metera – Database sa 67% čitanja i 33% zapisa, Workstation s 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, Web Servera sa 100% čitanja i File Servera s 80% čitanja i 20% zapisa, nakon čega ispisujemo broj izmjerenih IOPS-a. Savjeti za svakodnevnu operativu SSD-a pod Windows OS-om uključuju isključivanje stvari kao što su indeksiranje diska, zatim isključivanje prefetcha i Superfetcha te defragmentiranja koje je sasvim nepotrebno.

Na temelju izvršenih mjerenja performansi donosi rezultat u MB/s. Transcend SSD 220S kreće vrlo uvjerljivo i postiže do sada najviši zabilježeni rezultat. Time dokazuje da je vrlo sposoban za svakodnevne zadaće i gaming. I AS SSD i Cyrstal koriste nekompresibilne podatke, no mjerenja im se ponešto razlikuju pa ih koristimo oba za usporedbu. Kao što vidimo, sekvencijalne performanse su dobre. Očekivano, 220S ima vrlo dobre rezultate u sva četiri testa. Nije optimiziran kao SX8200 koji koristi isti kontroler, no bolji je od Gammixa S11 koji također koristi SM2262. Ovi ga rezultati svakako čine vrlo pogodnim i za profesionalnu upotrebu. Transfer podataka [ichart headers="ID,MB/s" htitle="Transfer 29.7 GB podataka"  labels="S drugog diska na 220S, S 220S na 220S" values="205.38,190.87" colors="teal,blue" height="200" min="0"] U ovom "real life" testu smo najprije s Corsairovog Neutron XT 480 GB SATA III diska prebacili 29.7 (31.923 MB) podataka (kombinacija velikih i vrlo malih 22.246 fajlova), a zatim napravili identičnu kopiju na disku. Performanse su vrlo solidne s obzirom na veliki broj malih fajlova pa su ovo rezultati koje možete očekivati u svakodnevnom korištenju i manipulacijom. Kod velikih pojedinačnih velikih fajlova to ide značajno brže, oko 500 MB/s.

Zaključak

Da stvari stavimo u pravu perspektivu najprije moramo krenuti od cijene. Ona se u Hrvatskoj kreće oko 625 kuna za ovaj 512 GB model, čime je i za 200 kuna niža od konkurentnih Adata Gammix S11 480 GB ili SX8200 512 GB diskova. S obzirom na to da i jedan i drugi proizvođač na uređaje daju 5 godina jamstva, jedino što ih razlikuje je to što Adata sa svojima daje aluminijske hladnjake. To je dobro za ploče koje nemaju svoje M.2 hladnjake, no kod onih koje ih imaju potpuno je svejedno. Još je možda i bolje, jer je hladnjak masivniji i namijenjen za 110-milimetarske uređaje kao u slučaju naše ploče. SSD 220S se pod njim nije puno zagrijavao i nije bilo pada performansi. Hladnjak je bio vrlo topal na dodir, čak i vruć, no temperatura diska nije prelazila 55°C. Performanse su vrlo dobre i za zahtjevnije zadaće, a ne samo klasični svakodnevni rad ili pak gaming. Sve u svemu, Transcendov SSD 220S 512 GB zaslužuje visoku ocjenu i preporuku.
