AMD napušta “performance rating” |

 | AMD razmišlja o napuštanju korištenja “performance rating” oznaka na svojim desktop procesorima. PR oznake su već godinama s nama, a u vrijeme Athlona XP su služile za usporedbu sa starijim “Thunderbird-ovima", dok za Athlon 64 one predstavljaju “model number”. Također su služile i za usporedbu sa konkurentnim Intelovim procesorima. Sa dolaskon dvo- i četverojezgrenih procesora te oznake teško mogu krajnjem korisniku dočarati relativne performanse te AMD sada razmišlja o promjenama u označavanju za nove serije procesora baziranih na K8L mikroarhitekturi. | | |

AMD će dobiti 650 milijuna USD do države New York za izgradnju 12" postrojenja u Luther Forest Technology Campus-u. Novi FAB bi trebao osigurati puno radnih mjesta u Luther Forest-u (okrug Saratoga), a izgradnja bi trebala početi između srpnja 2007. i srpnja 2009. godine.

Inženjeri u Nokii su odahnuli kad su ovih dana dobili službeno odobrenje za nadogradnju već postojećeg N93 modela. Novi, poboljšani model će se zvati N93i (naravno) i od prethodnika će se razlikovati nešto manjim dimenzijama te malo drugačijom tipkovnicom tj. rasporedom tipki. Ono što će N93i imati, a N93 nema je mini USB port. No, sve u svemu glavne funkcije na koje u korisnici navikli kod N93 modela će ostati iste kao što je npr. integrirani Wi - Fi, te 3.2 mega pikselna kamera s 3x optičkim zumom kojom se mogu snimati i fimići u rezoluciji 640x480 s 30 FPS-a. Nova Nokia bi trebala na police stići početkom 2007, a cijena će joj se kretati oko 700$.

Ako se može dobiti kava iz automata zašto se ne bi mogao dobiti i iPod!Ako Japanci mogu imati automat s iskorištenim donjim rubljem (ovo je urbana legenda) zašto Amerikanci ne bi mogli imati automat s iPodima. Čini se da mogu jer su se širom SAD-a pojavili automati u koje ubacite novac i dobijete, ni manje ni više, nego iPod. Iako se nama ovo možda čini smiješno i beskorisno treba naglasiti da jedan automat proda iPoda u vrijednosti od preko 50.000 $ što, priznat će te, nije mala cifra. Naravno, postavjla se pitanje što kad netko u napadu bijesa počne šutati aparat jer neće izbaciti iPod (šutanje aparata je uobičajena praksa kad se ne može dobiti ono za što je novac već ubačen), te kako je riješeno pitanje garancja i slično. Jedna stvar koja se ne može poreći je praktičnost.

 | | OCZ se ponovno vraća u grafičke vode. Nakon nekoliko godina i zadnjeg modela koji je bio baziran na GeForce 3 čipu OCZ tržištu nudi svoju verziju 8800GTX kartice. Brzine memorije i procesora su standardne kao i za referentne modele, a OCZ tvrdi kako je korištena kvalitetna DDR3 memorija koja je prošla dodatan "screening" kako bi ju korisnici mogli što bolje "overclockirati". Dakle u OCZ-u i na grafičkim karticama potiču na overclocking, a cijena karticama bi trebala biti nešto viša od konkurentnih. | | |

| Glavna novina koja će biti predstavljena na Solid State Circuits konferenciji će biti IBM-ov Power 6 procesor. Zanimljivost je podatak kako će raditi na 5GHz+ iako se do sada nagađalo kako će raditi između 4 i 5GHz. Iako znamo kako brzina nije sve, Power arhitektura je u prošlosti pretrpila udarac kada je Steve Jobs 2003. godine obećao 3GHz procesor u Appleovim računalima, a IBM to nije mogao ispoštovati. To je i bio jedan od razloga Appleovog prelaska na Intelovu platformu, a kako će se stvari razvijati sa Power 6 procesorima tek treba vidjeti. |  | | |
